Sears Auto Sales

The Barnstable Patriot's obituary for Waldo W. Sears (1916-1998) offered the following detail:

"In 1938, Mr. Sears founded Sears Auto Sales in East Sandwich, which became a Jeep dealership in 1946, the oldest in the United States. He retired in 1978."

The 1983 AMC Dealer List showed Sears Auto Sales on Route 6A.  As of November 2003, there is no current mention for Sears Auto Sales, but there is a likely successor: Premier Jeep.  Advertising themselves as "Cape Cod's Oldest Jeep Dealer" they are located at 499 Route 6A.  Further research is needed to determine if this is the original location of Sears Auto Sales.
